How to Officially Unlock IMEI iPhone 4 on AT&T – Call – Chat ? This is the only FULL LIFE TIME UNLOCK solution for Apple iPhone 4 on any iOS Firmware iOS 4.x and iOS 5.0 / 5.0.1 / 5.1 …etc as the IMEI is registered as UNLOCKED in Apple database. iPhone users can request their phone be unlocked by visiting an AT&T store, calling the AT&T support line, or chatting with a technical service representative online. Despite the high wait times with their online chat system (it took me 56 minutes), I’d still recommend chatting with a representative due to the general consensus that phone support reps may not have gotten the memo about iPhone unlocking yet while the chat reps have.
Even though unlocking the iPhone 4S is out of the question, I still gave it a shot and asked an online chat representative about it. I’ll save you the trouble of trying yourself if you’re thinking about doing it. Here’s our conversation below:
Me: Would I be able to unlock my iPhone 4S?
Rep: The option to unlock the phone would depend on how it was purchased. Did you purchase the iPhone 4S with a new 2 year agreement?
Me: Yes, from an Apple Store.
Rep: Thank you. In order to unlock the phone the contract that was used to purchase the phone would need to have been completed. Since the iPhone 4S was recently launched the phone would still be in contract. Unfortunately, if the contract has not been completed we would be unable to obtain the unlock code.
AT&T released a statement last Friday saying:
Beginning Sunday, April 8, we will offer qualifying customers the ability to unlock their AT&T iPhones. The only requirements are that a customer’s account must be in good standing, their device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account, and they need to have fulfilled their contract term, upgraded under one of our upgrade policies or paid an early termination fee.

How to Officially Unlock AT&T iPhone 4 by Calling AT&T Customer Care :
- First find out the your IMEI number of your iPhone 4. To do that tap Settings > General > About > IMEI
- Call AT&T customer care by dialing 611 from your iPhone 4 or call 1800-331-0500 and then dial 0010 to directly talk to a customer care representative and skip the hold time (International users can dial 1800-335-4685 . ISD charges apply) . Representatives are available Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time, or Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time.
- Ask the customer care executive to unlock your iPhone 4 and provide the IMEI number of the device (Step 1). Wait for the instructions to be emailed to you which takes upto 72 hours .
- Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have internet connectivity
- Connect your iPhone 4 using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone
- Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes
- After restoring, your iPhone will be unlocked ( giving the message as shown below )
How to Officially Unlock AT&T iPhone 4 by AT&T Online Unlocking using Chat Support :
- 1st of all you will need to locate the IMEI number of your iPhone, it is written on the box, you can also find it in Settings> General > about
- Now, Login to AT&T’s chat support page
- Once you have successfully login, click on the “Chat Now” which is next to the “Technical Support”
- Now, Fill the chat form and where it ask, “How may assist you today?” Write down “I want to unlock my iPhone”. That’s it! Now Click on “Start Chat”
- In the chat you will need to explain the details about your iPhone, also mention the IMEI number of your iPhone which you noted in the first step.
- After checking the details, if your device will be eligible for unlock, the representative will ask your Email address. Please give the correct Email address in order to prevent any problem. They will Email you with the details for Unlock procedure. However, this may take a week or more to fulfill the unlock procedure.

I wanted to comment stating that it is possible to get AT&T to unlock the iPhone 4s. If you paid full price for the device they will unlock it for you. Also I got mine unlocked by saying that I am military and that the phone was never on AT&T, which is true. I received the phone as a replacement from AppleCare+. M

I register to the at&t site but i cannot chat with the representative. How can i????
Go to AT&T’s international customer care site & give in a fake/previously used AT&T wireless no. & click support link. Then u need to locate “Chat with representative” which is placed in the upper right side of that page just under the bar which contains various links & give ur name, fone no. & query to start the chat process. Keywords such as Is my iPhone out of contract & eligible for official unlock? Worked for 1 of my frnd, during chat he was asked to give his phone’s IMEI code to check its eligibility & only after confirming its eligibility they asked for his email address to which the code will be emailed within 7-8business days. Hope, this helped u a bit.

Finally, after 7 days, I received AT&T’s precious unlock confirmation email.
What a hassle this process was!
By the way, Apple has nothing to do with unlocking…strictly done by AT&T.

This Method is valid. If you are from the US chat will do you no good, however if you call At&t they will Unlock it for you. I have Unlocked the Iphone 4 using the call method.

Presently i live in india. yesterday i spoke to AT&T customer support regarding iphone unlock.She ask me about IMEI number of my iphone 4, email id and the place where i purchased my phone.After some time later they filled a complaint with case number. She told that your phone will get unlocked on or before april 26th. Dont worry guys its very simple!!!!!!!!!!!
just follow the steps
1. For international users Dial 1800 335 4685(use SKYPE for making call rather than calling from your personal number to get rid of charges)
2. For US customers dial 1800 331 0500.
3. After you are connected, follow the IVR.
4. It will ask you to enter your 10 digit wireless number.
5. Dont get Panic. Be still for a while.The IVR will automatically transferred your to the customer care department.
6.While talking to the representative, make sure you have your IMEI number and a proper mail id.

please donot disclose it to the customer support. Just say that you purchased the mobile from apple store.

Thanks. By yesterday I called to the AT&T international support. As finally, I get the case number CM############. There is something not yet clear that. In this situation, is that sure that I will get the unlock (AT&T rep gave me the case number).?
That is a small mistake that I did not ask about the status of the unlock with my iPhone 4!
